What is the Trading Post?

Ever have all the gear you need? Never a worry about where it's coming from? If you are like most Chaplains, unfortunately this is a common occurrence. Granted there are those who serve on departments that have well stocked shelves, however I'm not sure that is the norm.

So here is the idea. We will have a set up through this website were Chaplains can post both their needs as well as their surplus. Although anyone can "donate" we ask that only Chaplains are recipients. Whatever you have/need can be posted. Nothing is to insignificant. It may be gloves, rain gear, boots, turnouts, helmets, vests, clipboards, insignias, shirts, hidden agenda jackets, you name it. The only requirement is that nothing faulty be listed, lets be known for integrity. Recent change of law took care of the liability concerns with turnouts.

Whether you serve as Police, Fire or EMS I'm sure we can all help. Come on now guys, I know there are some of you with hardly worn Dress Blues because you have tried to exorcise the calories from all those fantastic dinners to no avail. This results in shrinking uniforms (couldn't possibly be our expanding waist line).

You may be asked to provide some ID and verification. Once that is done the two parties can make arrangements on where to send the items and any shipping cost. Please follow any local protocol as far as patches and insignias are concerned. There is no problem in swapping patches, hats or anything else as long as you do not violate any department policies.

This is set up strictly as a service to Chaplains and ask it be respected as such in both donating and receiving. If businesses want to get involved we can look into the possibility of tax deductible receipts if needed. Chaplains may also be a part of organizations that can issue tax deductible receipts directly, which would be the best way to operate. If business have useable surplus items and want to donate them to the USCC we will explore that as well. In turn we will distribute them as needed. This is also true of any other materials such as books, bibles or other resources you have.

The vast majority of Chaplains serve in the capacity of "professional volunteer." Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks for your contributions and blessings to one and all.
