2008 Outreach Preview
GREENSBURG KANSAS IS THE 911 OUTREACH FOR 2008

September 4-7 will see hundreds of volunteers from around the country converge on Greensburg Kansas for our annual 911 outreach.  On May 4, 2007, Greensburg was 95% destroyed by an EF5 tornado with a vortex 1.8 miles wide.  (See photos below)

First Responders from California, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, and Texas will join firefighters from New York City as well as close to 300 volunteers to do an old fashion "barn raisin".

We will raise a 14,000 sq ft steel building IN ONE WEEKEND that will be used as a community and 4H center.  We, United States Emergency Chaplains Corps (USECC), will conduct the Sunday Memorial Service.  The Kansas State Police will lead as our honor guard, and every department represented in Kansas and those from around the country will have a uniformed person with a fresh American flag to make up our color guard.  Many department are expected to have apparatus in the procession.  In addition, the Kansas Patriot Guard, the Kansas American Legion Riders and the Christian Motorcycle Association will provide escort for the procession.

This will promise to be a weekend of miracles, fun, hard work, patriotism, faith, fun and emotion.  Did I mention that we plan to have a little fun with all the work?  The community of Greensburg is planning a student rodeo for us on Friday night and a good boot scootin time with a street dance Saturday night.

We still need to raise several thousand dollars for the project and your help is always greatly appreciated.  We have had some innovative things come through that folks are doing to help.  One group is having a motorcycle rally with all proceeds sent to USECC.  Others are collecting with in their business or church, and of course some are just writing a check for whatever they can.  The important thing is that we appreciate all support and amounts of any size are welcome.

Please continue to look for updates in future letters or if you want to help out with something please call.  Keep us in prayer not only for the financial obligations but for the safety of everyone and good weather during and up to the dates of September 4-7.

Thanks so much and may God bless you............Chaplain Steve
