Good things still continue to come from the Groesbeck outreach. The house is coming along nicely, and it looks like Christmas will be a warm place finding the Vincent family snuggling in their new home. In fact, Thanksgiving is more of a possibility. I received a very nice letter from Sheriff Wilson of Limestone County and would like to share a paragraph with you. “The Sunday morning service which you conducted was very, very impressive. The words that were spoken during the service makes me very proud to be an American. Every part of your Sunday morning service had a purpose. It was awesome to witness this large crowd of people come together worshiping our God, as well as paying tribute to our Fallen Heroes from 911”. It is particularly gratifying for me to see communities gather openly to worship the Lord and be joined by community leaders who are not afraid to be counted in their number. As ministers, we need to be active within our communities, showing our friends we stand with them, and not be confined to the walls of our churches. There are several issues we are working on at this time. One is a major project that is so dynamic I will have to give you the details next month. I know, that's no fair to lay out a hint and not tell it all. Non the less, I can't spill the beans now but you'll be amazed when the details come out. What I can tell about is two of the bigger parts of the vision for 2008. The first is the clergy training. We are still in the process of working out the last details, but I can say that I'm looking for anyone interested in acting as a host facility. The goal is to “cross train” ministers and key lay leaders in some disaster response topics as well as ministerial topics. How many to offer and how many training sites are some of the issues to be finalized. If you are interested, please contact me. I've already had a couple of inquiries, so please call. In closing, Greatness is defined by your service to others. Not everyone can be famous, but everyone can become great. Jesus said, “No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is about, but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you.” Jn 15:15. Think about it, that will preach. In fact, instead of me preaching to you, I'll let the Holy Spirit take over now. Till next time, Blessings................Chaplain Steve |
